Reasons Why Your Children Should Draw and Paint

You have had a busy day and your children are running around like wild horses and using you as a climbing frame to get your attention and to alleviate their boredom. The television is on but it just adds to the noise.
Why not switch the television off and grab some pencils, paints, crayons or anything they can use to stimulate their creativity. I guarantee within minutes you will notice a change. Your children will become calmer and you will begin to feel sane again!
Drawing is fun and gives children the opportunity to express their creativity. We all have creativity in us and art helps us to discover it. Children are spending more and more time playing on computers, using their mobile phones and watching television. Giving a child the opportunity to produce something for themselves that is individual and unique will develop their self-confidence and achieve a sense of accomplishment.
Any child can be a great artist even if they are not particularly good at drawing. Art is much more than that. Art is about communication, expression, inventiveness and creativity. So giving your child different types of media to play with can help them find their own link with art.
On an educational level, art has all kinds of benefits. It is a fun way of teaching your children about colors, shapes and sizes. It improves concentration and develops their hand-eye co-ordination.
This is a great way for parents to interact with their children and thus get to know each other better. Just like reading your child a bedtime story, spending time with your child drawing and painting is just as special and memorable.
Once their masterpiece is finished you can hang it on the wall for all to see. I am sure people will comment on it and you can express your admiration. Your child will feel thrilled that their parent is so proud of them.
