The Incredible Collection Of Lacey Dancer

By Rachael Gutierrez

The name Lacey Dancer is mentioned alongside the great romantic writers in America. She was born after the Second World War in 1948. Her specialization is contemporary romance and historical novels. Over her writing career that spans several decades, her novels have been published under different names. Publishers have used such names as Sherry Carr, Sara Chance and Sydney Clary Ann. Her writing began in 1983 with several books in her real name.

Over her writing career, Lacey has received numerous awards for her work. The very notable ones include the Romantic Times Career Achievement award for the year 1991-92. It was given in recognition of the series called Romance Love and laughter. Romantic Times also gave her another award in the year 1996 as a Career Achievement. It was in recognition of the excellent work done on the series Romantic Adventure.

The conquest of the novel genre by Dancer is described by the Romantic Times as Dazzling. The stories are richly intense and made up of fascinating characters. About the plot, the editor calls it creatively imaginative, sharp and irresistible. It is the kind of romance that is driven by suspense. This style of writing is bound to glue the reader to every word until the end of the novel.

Her original work was published by Meteor in a romantic series called Kismet. This series had been running for years. The last series in collections delivered by Meteor was Pippa and would be the last before the company closed business. This was a turning point for a writer who previously had no trouble publishing.

It was difficult for Dancer to deal with the closure of Meteor in the middle of her writing career. One of the challenges was finding a publisher for Many Faces of Love, a novel that was in line. The closure left the title orphaned. Meteor had not published it by the time they closed shops.

The challenge of not having a publisher presented Dancer with an opportunity to create her own publishing company. Her difficulty was finding a publisher for a Romance author who was over 40 years old. That age was not common in the genre of romance which made it very challenging for her. The company that she formed was called Clear Ice Publishing. This company managed to release her novel to masses in the form of paperback. It is considered as redemption to her writing career.

The books published under the name Sara Chance were released from 1983 to 1989. Several books were published under this name as single novels and as a series entitled Southern Comfort. Among the titles in this category were Double Solitaire, Fire in the night and Her Golden Eyes. The Southern Comfort is a collection of three books written in the years 1988 and 1989.

Lacey Dancer also wrote as Sydney Clary Ann and had three novels published. They were Undercover Affair, The Duchess and the Devil and Misfit Match. She began publishing under her real name from 1990s. Some of her work includes St. James Saga as a series and a collection of ten novels. In 2003, she wrote Many Faces of Love. She has authored in excess of thirty books in her decades of writing.
