There was a book entitled beyond terror that was written by three authors. They were members of the Oxford Research Group. It is a group that is based in the UK.
These three authors namely, Chris Abbott, Paul Rogers and John Sloboda maintain that terrorism is not the greatest catastrophic threat that could hit the world. It is the effects of climate change that is brought about by the degradation of the environment. Actually, these climate change effects are starting to show themselves to the world.
They cannot live normally under such conditions where in all you would hear are gun shots and exploding armaments. Business is stopped because no vendors can continue peddling his wares when there is a war going on. So many people have died already because of these wars.
It makes you wonder if those people killing each other ever get tire. They should know that this accomplished nothing and only takes lives mostly of the innocent. Students who want to go to school and study cannot go to school anymore. The school had long been razed to dust because it was hit in the crossfire.
A bomb was set off that caused the school building to collapse. The dreams of the people for themselves are gone because of the war. They should have been occupied about how to achieve their dreams but since there is war, they are trying to survive against every bullet and gunshot that they encounter.
Not many people are lucky to survive in the war zone. Many people die at a young age because of the war. Innocent children got shot in the crossfire and some are forced to take arms to protect what is left of their lives. That is why you see young boys as old as eight years old holding a gun.
In other countries, there is already hunger but the situation might not have reached at your doorstep yet. Once it does, the implications of the situation in national security will be a threat that is far greater than what terrorism has brought the nation or the world. Yes, there may have shortage of food right now but it is not as profound yet as what these three had predicted in the coming years of people will not do something to save the environment.
The book did not underestimate the effects of terrorism in society. You cannot just belittle what victims of terrorism have gone through. Many lost their lives and even if some of the victims have survived the incident, many of them could not find work because they have lost a part of their body.
The environment is also at war with the people living in it. As you can see, people are experiencing climate change. This is attributed to the people's disregard of the welfare of the environment. People just keep on enriching themselves at the expense of the environment. These things are beyond terror and they are unfolding before your eyes everyday. It is to wake to the reality and something about it.
