How To Plan For A Quality Interior Plantation Shutters For The Windows

By Jocelyn Davidson

Having nice interior in your room or house does wonders for your mood. With this in mind, you would want to place in effort on designing and planning. Choosing which designs should not be that troublesome since there are already a lot of options you can take.

To start with window treatments, you need to choose a versatile and inexpensive design. If you want to have a quality interior plantation shutters could provide you with that. They can blend easily in your room and can also be added when reselling the house.

Basically plantation shutters are just a different style for the more generic ones for your window. The traditional ones are small paneled or called small louvered. Their sizes range from 1 and one fourth inches to 1 and seven eighth inches. These are made cafe style which covers the bottom half and are quite narrow.

As for the plantation shutters, first off they got the name from huge plantation homes in the south after being introduced to the Americas by the Spanish. Recently, they are more common in the west like in Arizona and California. The sizes are 3 and one half inches to 4 and one half inches. What made them a good choice is their versatility and utilization.

Wood is primarily the best choice. When you add wood into an interior design, it gives you a natural feel while it also looks professional, calm, and classy. Using this as main material for the shutters would give you that experience. Although there are ways you can achieve the same with fauxwood if your budget does not fit with certain types of wood. Choosing metal as long as it is powder coated and finished, could be a great option for those that are tight with security.

Starting with the installation, you need to make sure of the measurements of your windowsill. In a horizontal measurement, take the top, middle and the bottom measurements. Take into mind the largest measurements. Provide these to your local home decor store when picking a design.

Certain designs provide you options depending on your preference. The top may be glass or any other type, or you may have it fold to either side or separate at the center which is called a bi fold. Since there are certain structures in your room or house that needs to be taken into consideration also.

Next is adding the mount to the interior of the windows, along with the exterior mounts. It requires a wooden shim to have the shutters stay in place. Most likely these have already pre drilled holes and ready to have a screw attached. If not, you can use a one eighth inch drill to add these holes.

Place the shutters on the mount and make sure that they are angled and positioned correctly. Take a closer look if they are already perfect to you, then you can screw them in place. Now you can add screw covers and hammering them lightly with a piece of cloth to secure the screw. One thing you can add if you prefer is drapery or fabric valance depending on the set up you have inside the room.
