Making A Christmas Display Village Layout

By Larry Wright

Christmas villages are the best displays to use during the festive season. Making such an exhibition can be tedious to someone doing it for the first time. Therefore, one should get a reliable source of information regarding the steps to follow to make the exhibition well. The following are tips for creating a Christmas display village layout to consider.

Start by selecting an ideal location for the exhibition. An excellent exhibition place must be visible by the guests the moment they step inside your room. You can create a space near your space if the sitting room layout allows such consideration. The fireplace can also be suitable but fits for temporary displays. Ensure that the area is big enough and there is a socket to connect the lighting display.

Beware of the base that you choose. You have different places to place an exhibition. One can put it on a cabinet, a bookshelf or a hutch. Any flat position with support is suitable as long as there is a strong support to hold the weight of the exhibition. You should use plywood or any other sturdy material that one can shift from one location to the other.

Make the landscape. Using a white felt drape is the easiest way to create a perfect view. You can use it to conceal every object that you use to create the view and create holes to pass through the electrical cords. You can also manipulate it into different shapes and creases to make different impressions. Make impressions of hills and curvatures using bowls and plates.

Lay down the train tracks. Train tracks are one of the most common displays in a Christmas exhibition village. It should be placed first to hide any mechanic or chords needed to control the train on its track. Gather all the cords under the drape to conceal them to avoid tripping hazards later on when the exhibition is complete. The train should wind around the area and can also go through a tunnel that you have included.

Place the buildings accordingly. Use buildings of different shapes and sizes according to the concept you have in mind. Arrange the structures along a street to depict a real town or village. The building can represent a post office, residential houses, banks and even hospitals. You need to be creative enough to make the exhibit as real as possible.

Consider the lighting process. Use a long stretch of LED lights to illuminate your whole exhibition other than using different bulbs. They are cheaper compared with small bulbs for different purposes. You can remove the bulbs to break or cover an exposed light and add extra snow to create an extra glow in the hills.

Add a scene of life in your exhibition. Life appears in such an exhibition when you add forms of miniature animals, trees and people. You should place them in layers according to your creativity. Include scenes such as people interacting, doing various activities and many more ideas to make the exhibition more appealing.
