About Scented Aromatherapy Soy Candles

By Kelly Wood

Aromatherapy soy candles come in varied types, made using all kinds of natural ingredients. But the basic formula is usually the same, and consists of essential oils combined with a wax. The soy candle is made from vegetable wax that is in turn derived from soy beans. Essential oils added to the wax provide the scent that makes it so special.

This formula creates a candle that differs from the traditional kind in that it is not only scented, but also environment-friendly. The fumes are therapeutic and completely non-toxic. The exact benefits will vary based on the scent, but most give relief from stress and enhance mental clarity. It also assists in the revitalization process.

As the flame burns and the candle melts, the constituent components are directly returned back to nature. The entire process of making and using this candle is very different from the process required for a traditional paraffin-wax candle that is a petroleum byproduct. Each paraffin candle is responsible for a lot of carbon emissions, and it also has no therapeutic benefits.

Another difference between the two is that the vegetable wax candle has a comparatively low melting point. It can melt down on a hot day even without being set alight. It's important to buy it with the holder and keep it contained before, during and after use.

Another way to get around the low melting point is to throw in some additives that raise the temperature at which the wax begins to melt. Note that aromatherapy needs candles that are all-natural and have no artificial additives. As the flame burns, the patient is soaked in the aroma of vegetable wax and scented oils that revitalize and refresh the mind and body.

As mentioned above, the choice of scent has a big impact. There is a wide range of "true scents" available, including lavender, eucalyptus, cinnamon, orange, cedarwood, clove, mint, sage and rosemary, among others. These are known as single scents, and the scent from the candle is essentially the same as smelling a eucalyptus leaf or sniffing an orange.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a single scent, because a blend of essential oils can be used as a synergy. The blend's effect is more powerful than using each of its essential oils individually. A good example of a potent synergy is a blend of mint, rosemary and eucalyptus. It has a cooling effect and clears up sinuses, dispels fatigue and quickly wakes up lethargic patients.

A combination of cedarwood with fir needles and spruce creates the freshness of a forest inside the room. It alleviates depression, and leaves people free from worries about their daily life and urban headaches. Professionals use many such blends of aromatherapy soy candles to create the desired effect. The good thing about it is that this method involves no downside. The affordable candles are completely harmless to both the patient as well as the environment.
