Various 3D Animation Toronto Types And Methods

By Sharron Cantu

General animation types include stop-motion, 2D, and the popular 3D animations. 3D animation Toronto is one of the best methods animators use to create eye-catching films and clips. Making a movie with the aid of photographs of objects, series of drawings or computer graphics in general is basically moving pictures that represent any subject matter, from a moving bike to a full-featured Disney film.

The length at which you can create an animated movie varies. It all depends on the immensity and details of the project, and the process can range from within minutes to years. Animators can choose to use physical models or use computer software to complete their project. Various mediums in which you can use are pencil or computer drawings, to physical or computer models. For physical models, you can virtually use any sort of material including clay, sand, coins, buttons, etc.

The three basic types of this process are stop-motion, 2D, and 3D. These make up the general styles that animators use to create their works. The most basic style, which is the stop-motion category, involves filmmakers moving physical objects and characters in several motions while taking shots every single time. This is different from a captured video, where the objects would move freely without the filmmaker's intervention.

2D types involves two different methods. Cell process is the oldest type of 2D category, and was popularly used before computer software could generated it. It involves linking a comprehensive amount of photos taken frame-by-frame. This means that every frame of the film is drawn on paper by an animator, then shot and connected together to create a smooth-flowing clip.

Computer software can also be used to create 2D. Instead of drawing directly on paper, paintings and sketches can be done in an animation software. The most popular of all the software is Adobe Flash.

There is also one other way of creating 2D animations. This involves actually using a mixture of the two 2D methods. For example, the animator could physically draw his or her drawings on paper, then scan them into a computer to color them in or add more design to it.

Nowadays, feature films are usually made in 3D animations. This is due to the immense amount of detail an animator can include in their characters and objects. While 2D is created on 2 axis and does not provide many angles of view on the subject matter, 3D is made on 3 axis (x, y, z) and gives the viewer as much detail the animator wants.

In no way is 3D method manually drawn on a piece of paper. Only software can be used to create such detail involved. Two popular animation software are Maya and 3D Max. However, many people prefer the simpler Blender, since Maya and 3D Max take a bit more getting used to.

Some animators will use motion capture instead. This is a mixture of 3D animation and live action. Animators render a captured clip in a 3D software to make it look animated.
