A Re-Examination Of Young Adult Book Reviews

These are books aimed at adolescent children of the age brackets of 13-21. The themes used in writing of young adult book reviews mostly are drug abuse, love and romance, sexuality etc. The plot of the stories is written within the age bracket of the readers and they get to experience and live with the characters in their world.

It is difficult to say that what interest a child would interest an adult. That is why a young adult book is specifically written for the adolescent between the ages of thirteen to twenty one. The style used to write these books are often tangible and the characters appeal readily to the young readers.

Mostly the protagonist is a young adult instead of a child or a full grown adult.When it comes to the young adult books you will notice, that is if you like reading these books, that the author picks themes that affect the youth. Examples of themes used are like drug abuse, sexuality, self esteem, rivalry, love and romance etc.

For instance, an author may write about a boy who has lived and grown in poverty, has not had a decent education due to financial problems, misses meals and many struggles and ends up as a drug addict or a gangster.

These books are made more interesting by the tone used in writing them. It can be nostalgic, vengeful, remorseful or a happy tone this is decided by the author. While other writers might use one tone the other can use multiple tones.

In the modern society or should i say in the twenty first century you will notice that many novels, especially the young adult books are being published then later on they are acted out as movies. This strategy being used today has made the youths to buy both novels and movies thus increasing the sell and ratings, and the authors who are sometimes script writers are being appreciated by people through awards. These show that the authors are able to connect easily with the youth; they know what the experience and have their interests in mind.

In the nineteen nineties is when the field for young adults literature matured coming on its own, serious and better written. The young adult book has sometime been referred to as the problem novel because of the things authors choose to write such as crime, drug abuse, alcoholism etc. Which are societal and personal problems.

This can boost a students comprehension when a canonical pieces is used alongside. The young adults literature have created an immense to schools that the students are in acting classes, their imagination to another world is created when they act like the famous play of shake spear.
